Repair Airfield Lighting Systems All Projects

Coleman Construction, Blue Mountain Electric, and P&L General Contractors teamed on this large design-build airfield lighting project. The project was heavily value engineered to provide a cost-effective yet sustainable design. The project requirements included extending the existing centerline lighting system approximately 4000ft, and replacement of antiquated fixtures in four simulated carrier deck boxes on each end of each runway. Working in a tight summer window for construction, BME installed over 250 carrier deck fixtures, 150 centerine fixtures, a new lighting regulator, and 10,000 ft. of 5000V cable. The project was phased so that one runway could remain operational at all times and careful planning and scheduling ensured that the NAS Whidbey mission of training and readiness was maintained throughout the project.
