RVR Project Awarded to BME Inc.
Runway Visual Range System will provide critical line of sight information to pilots landing at NAS Whidbey.
BME teamed up with Coastal Environmental Systems to install a Runway Visual Range System for Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Ault Field runway 14/32.  Two remote sites will be equipped with forward scatter technology visibility and background luminance sensors coupled with a runway light intensity monitor.   Both remote sites will contain a Field Data Collection Unit that will collect and process all the field sensor data and send to a DPU/Server via wireless radio. This data is processed to determine the actual distance a pilot should be able to see down the runway enhancing NAS Whidbey’s capabilities.
