Energy Facilities Upgrades – Phase 2 All Projects
BME teamed with P&L General Contractors on this energy improvements project at NAS Whidbey. Spectrally Enhanced Lighting (SEL) techniques were a requirement of the design-build RFP. This technique uses brighter looking color temperature lamps which are less wattage than typical lamps. The desired effect is an installation that appears to have the same lighting level, while still providing a wattage savings. BME surveyed over 4000 light fixtures before the design even began. Based on the survey, Abossein Engineering worked with Puget Sound Energy to provide a design which provided the most energy savings, while providing a functional lighting design. The project achieved a savings of more than 20% and a rebate from Puget Sound Energy to the Naval Station.
